Employment Opportunities at UNESCO

As a specialized agency within the United Nations,UNESCO offers a broad range of employment opportunities. Posts in the Organization are mainly filled by people in occupations linked to the Organization’s five areas of concern: education, science, culture, information and communication There are also opportunities for employment in fields such as administration, finance, human resources and information technology.

Employment Opportunities at the Canadian Commission

The Canadian Commission is dedicated to actively advancing UNESCO’s vision of a durable culture of peace. The Commission’s role is to act as a forum for governments and civil society, and to catalyze the participation of Canadian organizations and committed individuals in UNESCO’s mandated fields: education, natural and social sciences, culture, communication and information. Internship Opportunities

UNESCO’S Young Professionals Programme

UNESCO's Young Professionals Programme is designed specifically for youth representatives from countries that are under-represented among UNESCO's staff. Because Canada is currently over-represented in terms of positions at UNESCO headquarters, Canadians are, unfortunately, not eligible for this programme.

Youth International Programs

Young Professionals International (YPI) provides youth with a first paid career-related international work experience that will further the objectives of Canada's foreign policy.

International Youth Programs

International Youth Programs enable young Canadians, primarily between the ages of 18 and 30, to obtain new skills and training to help them compete in the global economy and broaden their exposure to foreign cultures.
Some of the International Youth Programs are managed by foreign embassies, high commissions or consulates in Canada while others are administered by private sector Canadian organizations.

Internship Programme at the Canadian Commission

The Canadian Commission periodically takes on interns for short to medium-term developmental assignments. The positions are unpaid, but provide excellent work experience and contacts for the future. Internships at UNESCO

Students from a wide range of disciplines, researchers and national civil servants are all able to apply for individual 1/4-month internships at UNESCO Headquarters. Depending on your qualifications, these internships relate either to the Organization’s strategic activities or to administrative or technical functions.
